  During the first full week of April each year, APHA brings together communities across the United States to observe National Public Health Week as a time to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are important to improving our nation's health. For over 25 years, APHA has served as the organizer of NPHW. Every year, the Association develops a national campaign to educate the public, policymakers and practitioners about issues related to each year's theme. APHA creates new NPHW materials each year that can be used during and after NPHW to raise awareness about public health and prevention.

  OPHA is a proud National Public Health Week partner, so please stay tuned to see what events APHA and OPHA will hold for NPHW 2025!

  Description: OPHA's 3rd annual student showcase will feature Oklahoma university student practicums and culminating projects in public health! Students presentations include research investigating various population needs and health programs/solutions created to serve their communities.

  Continuing Education: Up to 2 hours CPH & CHES are available from this webinar. Attendees seeking continuing education or certificates of attendance must request their credits from OPHA through this linked survey within a week of the event.

  Learning Areas: Research and evaluation

  Learning Objectives:

  • Describe research approaches for culminating projects.
  • List a variety of topics that OK students have used for public health practicums/culminating projects.
  • Identify public health needs in OK that served as a foundation for research projects. 

  Continuing Education Fees

  OPHA members pay no cost to attend and receive CE credits provided by OPHA. OPHA provides continuing education to Oklahoma CHWs at no cost - thank you for your work improving Oklahoma's communities! All other attendees will be invoiced $15 per credit hour upon event registration effective July 1, 2024.

  Continuing Education Attendance & Evaluation Policy

  OPHA offers professional development opportunities and pursues approvals from credentialing bodies to offer continuing education. OPHA strives to meet the standards and competencies of credentialing agencies, and therefore attendance at an OPHA CE event does not guarantee credit. CE-seeking attendees must complete our credits and attendance certificate survey, linked here and on OPHA's homepage, for each event so that OPHA's Continuing Education Committee can ensure attendance, demonstrated learning, and provide requested CE event certificates to attendees on a quarterly basis. CE credits are ultimately awarded to participant by credentialing agency/body upon event and survey completion and the attendee reporting our provided activities.
