"Building Healthy Communities: An Environmental and Policy Approach"

The Oklahoma Public Health Association, Oklahoma Health Equity Campaign (OHEC), Oklahoma State Department of Health, Rogers State University, Rogers State University Television, Cherokee Nation Healthy Nation and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have partnered to provide a Policy Training on November 15, 2011.

The training will be held at the Rogers State University Centennial Building in the Grand Ballroom. 1701 W. Will Rogers Blvd., Claremore, OK. 74017.


This training is open to OPHA members and non-members.


Training Objectives:

At the end of this training, participants will:

* Understand the value of prevention as a strategy for eliminating health disparities and averting illness, disease, and death due to a range of health issues, particularly unhealthy eating and physical inactivity.

* Recognize the importance of organizational practice and policy change strategies to improve opportunities for healthy eating and physical activity.

* Be equipped with the tools, resources and knowledge to initiate organizational practice and policy change. 

* Understand how the training supports efforts to advance health equity and chronic disease Prevention in Oklahoma.
