The Oklahoma Public Health Association's Policy Committee works to identify state public health policy issues and promote the passage of health policies and laws that are best practice in public health. Each year, the Policy Committee, with the input of membership and approval from the Board of Directors, identifies key legislative priorities and tracks bills and interim studies that fall within those priorities.
Oklahoma's 2024 regular legislative session officially ended on May 30, 2024 (called "Sine Die"), and interim study season is here! Interim studies, also called study proposals, are policy-related presentations proposed by legislators to explore a policy topic during the interim session – the time between regular legislative sessions that happen each spring. Interim studies (study proposals) provide legislators and the public opportunity to learn about problems, solutions, data, and opinions on a policy topic. Interim studies also serve to maintain interest on policy from previous legislative sessions or draw attention to new policy planning to be introduced in the next legislative session.
Please review the 2024 Policy Agenda that informs which interim studies we track, and view the growing number of interim studies we're actively tracking below.
