Welcome!

Oklahoma Public Health Association (OPHA) provides a forum for the professional enrichment of more than 1,000 dedicated public health professionals.  OPHA is an affiliated association of the American Public Health Association(APHA).  We have collaborated with APHA to grow stronger as organizations, to share expertise, influence, and resources, and to advocate for common priorities at the local, state and federal levels.

APHA is the national voice of public health and champions the health of all people and all communities. It is the only organization that combines a nearly 150-year perspective, a broad-based member community and the ability to influence federal policy to improve the public's health. OPHA 2023 Policy Information

Oklahoma's Legislative Session is just around the corner, with bills already being introduced. This year, the OPHA Policy Committee will be sending action alerts to our members throughout the Session calling attention to bills that involve these items.

The 2023 OPHA Policy Agenda will be announced in November, 2022.

About OPHA

The purpose of OPHA shall be to assist in protecting and promoting public health, to provide for scientific advancement with the enlightenment of its members through the interchange of information, ideas, and experiences; and to advance the public health program in the State of Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Public Health Association (OPHA) values the lived experiences and choices of all people, regardless of age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, geographic location, or socioeconomic circumstance. The OPHA commits to an intensive approach to use inclusive and person first language to reflect the OPHA vision for a collective, inclusive, and respectful approach to public health. Evidence-based, contemporary terminology is used to convey respect and empowerment and to reduce stigma faced by communities and populations disproportionately impacted by inequities. Despite these efforts, specific terminology or language may be unintentionally offensive or stigmatizing to some individuals or populations. Feedback to improve our outreach and communication efforts are welcomed and appreciated.
